Review: Smoky Mountain Sweethearts

Smoky Mountain Sweethearts Smoky Mountain Sweethearts by Cheryl Harper
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love Cheryl Harper's writing. Her story SMOKY MOUNTAIN SWEETHEARTS is filled with great characters, action and lots of mountain scenes.

The story of a firefighter trying to reconnect with an old flame whose husband has died of cancer is an emotional packed book. Great read.

by Jami Gray (Goodreads Author)

Have you ever read a book that was so good you want to read it again then you decide to keep it for another read. Well this book is that kind of book. The main character is Cyn, an ex marine with psychic abilities and a psychic killer is after her. Tons of action, great characters, fast paced and one heck of a story line make this book a great read.

Review: Splintered Silence

Splintered Silence Splintered Silence by Susan Furlong
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brynn and her cadaver dog Wilco, both injured in an IED explosion head back home to her gipsy clan roots in the Appalachian Mountains and ugly memories, drug runners, rape and murder.

Amazing characters and lots of action. The book just kept getting better and better. I never saw the end coming.

This book is the first in a new series called Bone Gap Travellers Mystery.

If you read just one book this year. Splintered Silence by Susan Furlong should be it.

This pattern is sized for big kids to XL adults. Learn some new techniques, 3 ways to do tuck ribbing, and she has a you tube video to help you learn at youtube.com at theanswerladyknits.  The pattern used worsted weight yarn. Review: Hell Hath No Fury

Hell Hath No Fury Hell Hath No Fury by Charles G. West
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a new author to me and I loved it. He pulls you into the story with his descriptive writing style.

Set in the 1800 Rocky mountains an army scout "Hawk" is hired by a man looking for his younger brother and his wife. They set out fearing that Indians have killed them.

Fast paced, lively characters, old fashioned cattle thieves, murder, bar fight shot outs and more will keep you reading late into the night.

This is the first in a series called John Hawk Westerns and I am looking forward to the next one coming out in May of 2018.

Review: Christmas at Cade Ranch

Christmas at Cade Ranch Christmas at Cade Ranch by Karen Rock
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really loved this book dealing with self doubt, addiction and a single mom trying to make a better life for her child, and learning to be strong enough to overcome her past.

The setting is on a cattle ranch in Montana where Sofia finds herself after being
Stranded when she loses her wallet and a meeting with her ex-boy friend's mother who has been looking for her.

The story just keeps getting better and better. A must read for the coming holidays. Lots of action from a blizzard to a barn dance, a fist fight and love. I love Karen Rock's books.

Yarned and Dangerous Yarned and Dangerous by Sadie Hartwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved this book. Lady moves to her uncles to help him, takes over his wifes yarn shop who was murdered. I laughed, got up set. All in all, great book with great characters and fast paced.

Plus it has patterns too.

Book Review Mid Gauge Basics + Much More

Mid Gauge Basics + Much More

By Charlene Shafer

Book Information:
0543 $20.00. Basic techniques for the LK 150 (and all manual mid gauge machines)
No Ribber required.

Link to book:
http://www.knitknackshop.com/

This is a wonderful book for learning the basic skills or relearning what you have forgotten on the mid-gauge machines. It has a great section on making buttonholes and swatching using a standard ruler or the yellow ruler that comes with the machine.

Each lesson is very clear and easy to understand with step by step directions. The patterns that come with each lesson will help you learn each new technique. Some of the patterns have variations, so you will have lots to make from them. I love the way each lesson and the techniques that go with them are set up.

This book will help you learn all about the buttons on your carriage like how to do plating, slip stitch, tuck, lace, tuck lace. Even has a section on short rowing with patterns to help you learn about each. This must have book for your knitting library picks up where your manual leaves off.

Author information:

Charlene started machine knitting in January of 1969 and has authored over 200 books on anything from Crafty Ideas, Afghans, Baby Clothes, Holiday Items, many books of garments, machine knitting and technique books.
Charlene Shafer's Knit Knack Shop was opened in 1978, her husband Harold and son Noel work with her at the shop. Charlene is working on new books and loves to teach at workshops and seminars.

The shop imports Tamm Yarns and distributes them to the US & Canada. Also Cotton Tale 8 and Lion Brand 1878 Wool. They are dealers for Silver Reed machines and import the Hague Linkers. The Knit Knack Shop is ‘One Stop Shopping’ for the machine knitter.
